Self-similar damping of turbulence at large Reynolds number
Amortissement autosimilaire d'une turbulence à grand nombre de Reynolds
Résumé
'Nonlocal' interactions have a great effect on the dynamics of energy-containing eddies and the decay of kinetic energy in three-dimensional homogeneous isotropic turbulence. The present paper uses quasi-normal Markovian theory with eddy damping to examine such nonlocal interactions. It is shown that in the limit of infinite Reynolds numbers the kinetic energy spectrum evolves asymptotically in a self-similar way.
