Semi empirical design procedures for axial pile capacity in clays
Résumé
Four new procedures for the design of piles for axial capacity in clays are reviewed; all are based on a semi empirical approach using data from in situ tests (piezocone, cone pressuremeter, Marchetti dilatometer and the Ménard Pressuremeter). All are shown to perform well and often better than more rigorous approaches. This project has demonstrated that the potential of direct design procedures can be realised and forms an important step in their evolution
